Esmail Vafa Yaghmai is an Iranian poet and songwriter, and one of the “Roshangharan E Ghadesieh.” His shows, titled “Razm Va Bazm Ba Vafa,” (Combat and Festival with Vafa) reflect his perspectives on Politics and art.

Vafa Yaghmai was born in 1953 in the village of Garma, belonging to the Khor and Biyabanak region in central desert of Iran. He is among the contemporary Iranian poets, authors, and songwriters who has been living abroad since 1982. He has published around twenty poetry collections, and so far, over a hundred of his songs and anthems have been performed.

Esmail Vafa Yaghmai was a member of the “National Council of Resistance of Iran” for several years. He became acquainted and aligned with the supporters of the “People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran” starting in 1971. However, with more experience and understanding of Islam, the ideology, and the Mojahedin’s methods of combat, and the inhumane, undemocratic, and unethical practices of this organization, he embarked on a challenging journey and separated from this organization in 2005. After this separation, he began enlightening and raising awareness against Islam and Islamic dictatorship.

Esmail Vafa Yaghmai has written many poems that “Marzieh,” an Iranian singer, performed during her years of association with the “National Council of Resistance of Iran.” Among the songs Marzieh performed with Esmail Vafa Yaghmai’s poems, “Zan: Kaveye Mihan” (Woman: Kaveh of the Homeland) and “Baroon Mibareh” (It’s Raining) can be mentioned.
